When The Traitors premiered in 2023, it proved a Scottish castle full of reality contestants and a handful of famous faces could turn backstabbing into appointment television. Season 2 is where the show stopped testing the format and started throwing its full weight behind it. Rather than bringing back a modest cast for another round of murder and banishment, Peacock assembled a group built to make noise: Survivor legends, Big Brother royalty, MTV Challenge icons with decades of history, multiple Real Housewives pulled from three different franchises, a former heavyweight boxing champion, a Dancing with the Stars headliner, a Bachelor lead, a Love Island winner — and, in one of the more surreal casting swings on American reality TV, the former Speaker of the British House of Commons. Twenty-two players entered Ardross Castle, more than any prior US installment, and the “bigger names, bigger scale” bet worked: the season became a genuine word-of-mouth hit and picked up major awards recognition.

How It Ended
Winners: CT Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella — both playing as Faithfuls, splitting the season’s prize fund. CT became the first man, and the first Faithful, to ever win a US season of The Traitors. Runner-up: MJ Javid — also a Faithful, MJ made the final three alongside CT and Trishelle after the trio unanimously voted out the game’s last Traitor, Kate Chastain. A deadlocked revote followed, and Trishelle switched her vote from CT to MJ at the last moment, banishing MJ just short of the win.
