Parvati Shallow: Survivor’s Black Widow Builds a Media Empire

Parvati Shallow built her reputation across four seasons of Survivor as one of the format’s most cunning social players, a reputation that made her an obvious Original Traitor pick when The Traitors Season 2 needed a proven strategist.

Long before castles and Round Tables, Shallow was already rewriting how Survivor fans thought about strategic gameplay.

Four Seasons Across Nearly Two Decades

Shallow debuted on Survivor: Cook Islands in 2006, made the merge and built alliances that would define her early reputation. She won Survivor: Micronesia in 2008, one of the show’s most celebrated strategic victories, then returned for Heroes vs. Villains in 2010, finishing runner-up after a long rivalry with fellow competitor Sandra Diaz-Twine. She came back once more for the all-winners season, Winners at War, in 2020, cementing a Survivor résumé that spans nearly a decade and a half of the franchise’s history.

Becoming an Original Traitor

Shallow began Season 2 of The Traitors as a Faithful but was recruited almost immediately by Original Traitor Dan Gheesling to join him and Phaedra Parks as one of the season’s three starting Traitors. The trio ran largely unchecked through the opening stretch of the season, orchestrating murders while drawing minimal suspicion. Coverage of the season nicknamed her the “Black Widow,” a callback to her Survivor reputation for building trust and then cutting people loose without warning.

A Podcast, a Memoir, and Two More Wins

In 2025, Shallow won Australian Survivor: Australia v the World, extending a reality-competition résumé that already ran deeper than almost anyone else in the genre. Earlier that same year, she competed on the second season of Deal or No Deal Island. She also launched a podcast with producer Amy Bean, Nice Girls Don’t Win, paired with a memoir of the same title chronicling her life and career across nearly two decades of competitive reality TV.

Between the Survivor comeback, the memoir, and the Traitors Original Traitor run, Shallow has spent the last several years proving the reputation she built in 2008 was never a fluke.
