Ron Funches built a comedy and acting career known for warmth and honesty about his own life, and that same read-people-well instinct made him one of the sharper Faithfuls of Season 4 of The Traitors, right up until it made him a target.

From Chicago to a Pipefitter’s House in Oregon
Funches spent his early years in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago, living primarily with his mother, a social worker. At 13, he moved to Salem, Oregon, to live with his father, who worked there as a pipefitter. He began performing stand-up in Portland at 23, building a reputation locally before a small role on “Portlandia” in 2011 helped push him toward Los Angeles, where he relocated in 2012.
A Career Built on Stand-Up and Trolls
Funches is a stand-up comedian and actor known for voicing Cooper across the Trolls film franchise and for a recurring role on the series Loudermilk, and he’s spoken openly and publicly about being on the autism spectrum along with a significant, well-documented weight-loss journey, having gone from 360 pounds to losing roughly 140 of them. His television debut came via Comedy Central’s “The Half Hour” in 2014, the same year he landed the role of Shelly on NBC’s “Undateable,” and he’s continued adding credits since, including a voice role as Bloofy in 2024’s “Inside Out 2.” That openness about his own life has become a defining part of his public persona well beyond his comedy credits.
Catching Porsha’s Slip
Funches’ sharpest moment in the game came early, when he correctly noticed castmate Porsha Williams misspeak while theorizing about the Traitors, and he called her out for it in front of the group. That read helped get her banished, even though Williams turned out to actually be a Faithful the entire time, a case of a technically correct read leading to the wrong outcome.
Targeted After Donna Kelce’s Reveal
Funches’ own suspicion grew once his ally Donna Kelce was revealed as the season’s Secret Traitor, a twist that put his own alliances under a new kind of scrutiny. The remaining Traitors targeted him not long after, and he was banished in Episode 6 by a narrow plurality vote, finishing 15th of 23.
Marriage and Family
Funches married Christina Dawn in August 2020, and the two live together in Los Angeles raising two sons. He has spoken in his stand-up about one son being autistic, folding his own public autism disclosure into how he talks about parenting.
Life Now
After the season aired, Funches predicted publicly that some of his castmates would offer “fake apologies” at the reunion, telling one outlet the dynamic reminded him of “high school.” He’s also said that meeting eventual winner Rob Rausch was one of his favorite parts of the entire experience, a generous note from someone whose early, accurate read on the game ultimately wasn’t enough to carry him to the end.
