Sarah Pidgeon spent years building a career on the strength of quiet, well-reviewed work before stepping into the role of one of the most scrutinized women in modern American history, and turning it into the biggest hit FX and Hulu have ever had.
Stepping Into an Icon’s Shoes
Born July 7, 1996, and raised in Michigan, Pidgeon attended Birmingham Groves High School, performed at the Community House in Birmingham, and spent summers at Interlochen Arts Camp before graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy in 2014. She earned her BFA from Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama in 2018. Early credits in One Dollar (2018) and Gotham (2019) led to her first major break in Prime Video’s The Wilds (2020-2022), followed by Hulu’s Tiny Beautiful Things (2023). In 2024, she made her Broadway debut as Diana in David Adjmi’s Stereophonic, earning a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play, and followed it with a role in I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025).
Love Story Becomes a Phenomenon
None of that fully prepared audiences for what came next. In Ryan Murphy’s FX limited series Love Story, which charts the courtship and marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, Pidgeon plays Bessette-Kennedy opposite a story that’s been picked over by tabloids and historians alike for nearly three decades. The series premiered February 12, 2026, and went on to become the most-watched series in FX and Hulu’s history, a result few limited series built around a single real-life relationship ever come close to.
The Emmy Nomination
Love Story picked up seven Emmy nominations overall, and Pidgeon earned a nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series, a significant leap for an actress who, just two years earlier, was earning acclaim in a much smaller off-Broadway-adjacent run.
