Early Life

Emily Beth Schunk was born on January 3, 1998, in Wichita, Kansas. Her father, Gregory Schunk, is German-American, and her mother, Pin Schunk, is Chinese. Both parents have engineering backgrounds.

She stayed in Kansas through school. During her senior year of high school, in late 2015, a friend suggested she stream her League of Legends games and pointed out that viewers sometimes sent donations. She started that year and graduated in 2016.

In October 2021 she moved from Kansas to Austin, Texas. One True King is based in Austin, and she joined the org three months after the move.

Rise to Fame: League of Legends and Cosplay

Her early channel was built on high-level League of Legends play. Cosplay came on top of it. She filmed her looks in her bedroom, and the pairing of ranked-level gameplay with detailed costumes gave the channel a look viewers recognized fast.

The audience followed. By August 2022, her Twitch channel had passed one million followers, a milestone the trade coverage of her cosplay contest noted that fall. After joining One True King, she widened the format beyond League of Legends. Just Chatting streams, cosplay streams, reactions and IRL broadcasts became the main content.

Cloud9 and the Move to One True King

Cloud9 signed Emiru as a content creator on August 28, 2020, when she was 22. The deal put her inside one of the biggest esports organizations in North America while she kept streaming League of Legends and cosplay from Kansas.

On January 2, 2022, she joined One True King as a content creator, which ended the Cloud9 deal. At OTK she worked alongside founders including Asmongold and Mizkif, and her content shifted from League-first to variety.

Co-Owner of One True King

On January 31, 2023, One True King promoted Emiru from content creator to co-owner. The promotion changed her relationship with the org from a content contract to an ownership stake. Reporting on her Red Bull signing in August 2025 still described her as an OTK owner with no content creation contract, which means she holds equity in the company without an obligation to stream for it.

Ownership also explains decisions that look odd from the outside. When the Steak & Eggs podcast ended in early 2025, the call was hers, according to Asmongold. He had parted ways with OTK himself in February 2025 and said on a February 21 stream that he had not been involved with the org for some time. Emiru stayed, as an owner.

Cosplay as a Business: The Gwen Story and the Emiru Cosplay Contest

Gwen, a League of Legends champion released in April 2021, was designed with Emiru’s makeup in the reference material. When she posted her Gwen cosplay, Riot Games illustrator Jeremy Anninos replied that he had saved some of her makeup looks in his reference board while designing Gwen’s base splash art. Her reply, quoted by SVG: “Wow… it’s kind of like I have a small piece in the game that is my life.” She did not design the champion; her earlier looks informed the art reference. Her other documented cosplays include K/DA Ahri, Seraphine and Neeko.

In October 2022 she turned the cosplay audience into an event of her own. The Emiru Cosplay Contest ran on October 25, 2022, sponsored by the makeup brand essence, with a $30,000 prize pool. Entries came through her Reddit community, and she judged with a panel that included Jessica Nigri. The contest became an annual production. The fourth edition wrapped in November 2023, co-hosted with Nigri, Asmongold and Tectone, with $5,000 paid to the Chat Favorite winner and $2,500 category prizes. A later edition on her own YouTube channel carried a $100,000 prize pool in its title. The prize money grew from $30,000 in 2022 to $100,000, with a brand sponsor and a judging panel: a production she runs herself.

The Steak & Eggs Podcast

Steak & Eggs launched on the OTK Network with Emiru, Asmongold and Tectone as hosts. It was announced on January 31, 2023, the same day as her co-owner promotion, and episode 1 came out on February 17, 2023. The three had recorded together before, as the Noodle Shop Podcast, with Rich Campbell in the chair Asmongold later took. Steak & Eggs covered gaming, anime and pop culture, ran 84 episodes at an average length of 89 minutes, and its YouTube channel passed 340,000 subscribers and 133 million views.

Tectone left in late November 2024. His ex-partner Pinkchyu had posted abuse allegations against him on November 22, 2024; he denied them, and he split from OTK days later, saying his contract had expired. Asmongold and Emiru continued with a replacement host, and Lacari later filled the third chair for a short run.

The podcast stopped in early 2025 with no formal cancellation announcement. In February 2026, Asmongold said on stream that Emiru personally decided to end Steak & Eggs to avoid the drama and controversy around the show and its hosts.

Awards and Recognition

At The Streamer Awards 2025, Emiru won Best Creative Arts Streamer, her first major industry award, in a category built around cosplay and creative work. The show was founded and is hosted by QTCinderella. Emiru’s nomination record runs back years: Best League of Legends Streamer at the 2021 Streamer Awards, Breakout Streamer at the 12th Streamy Awards in 2022, Streamer of the Year and Variety Streamer nominations at the 13th Streamys in 2023, Sapphire Award nominations at The Streamer Awards in 2023 and 2025, and Best Just Chatting Streamer and Streamer of the Year nominations at the 2024 awards.

In December 2025, Forbes named her to its 30 Under 30 list for Games, the 2026 list. The same list season recognized a wider class of creators her age: Brittany Broski made TIME’s TIME100 Creators list in 2025.

Personal Life

Emiru lives in Austin, Texas. Her one publicly documented relationship was with retired League of Legends pro Dyrus (Marcus Hill). It was announced on June 29, 2016, and ended in November 2020.

TwitchCon 2025 and Creator Safety

On October 17, 2025, during her meet and greet at TwitchCon San Diego, a male attendee crossed the barriers, grabbed her face and tried to kiss her. Her own security guard intervened. Emiru said the man was allowed to walk away and that she learned he had been caught only hours later, which disputed Twitch’s statement that he was detained immediately. Twitch said on October 18 that the behavior was “completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting” and that the man was banned indefinitely from Twitch and its in-person events. She said she is pressing charges and that TwitchCon 2025 would be her last TwitchCon.

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy apologized on October 24, 2025, saying Twitch “failed” her. On November 7, Twitch stated publicly that it “failed to keep Emiru safe,” and Emiru later said Twitch agreed to a $100,000 donation to a violence protection charity at her request.

It was not her only safety incident that year. On March 2, 2025, during the Sis-a-thon charity stream at Santa Monica Pier with Valkyrae and Cinna, a man followed the group, asked for her number twice and made threats before the group took shelter and police were called.

Eight days after TwitchCon, on October 25, 2025, Emiru said in a livestream that Mizkif, her former partner and an OTK co-founder, had subjected her to psychological and domestic abuse, stalking, harassment, sexual assault and threats of blackmail during their relationship, which reporting dates from 2022 to late 2024. These are allegations. She said she had consulted a lawyer and planned to seek restraining orders in California and Texas. Mizkif denied the more serious allegations and disputed parts of her account. He then filed a federal lawsuit against Emiru, Asmongold, OTK Media Inc., Mythic Talent Management Inc. and King Gaming Labs Inc., claiming reputational harm, lost earnings and emotional distress. Her long-form video on that period, “the last three years of my life,” sits on her YouTube channel and had about 2 million views when read in October 2026.

Net Worth

No defensible net worth figure exists for Emiru. The numbers in circulation come from bio sites and estimate tools: about $1.5 million at the low end, the estimate that recurs most often, up to $3.8 million at the high end, with others at $2.5 million and $2 million to $3 million. None of them comes from a named, credible source, so the full $1.5 million to $3.8 million range should be read as unverified estimates.

One figure gets misread often. HypeAuditor’s Hafi tool estimates her annual earnings at $5.9 million to $7.4 million across platforms and sponsorships. That is an analytics estimate of gross yearly earnings. It is not a net worth figure, and it is not a verified income number.

Her documented income sources are Twitch subscriptions and ads, YouTube ads, sponsorships and game brand deals (Tuko names Shadowverse, Magic: The Gathering and Exos Heroes), merchandise, and her ownership stake in One True King.

2025 to 2026: Recent Developments

On August 16, 2025, during Ludwig’s Streamer Games, Emiru announced she had signed with Red Bull as an athlete. Her announcement post read: “I just signed with Red Bull as an Athlete!! Nobody tell them how often I go outside…” She had worked with the brand before, taking part in a Red Bull Flugtag event with OTK in August 2024.

The audience numbers backed the signing. Streams Charts counted 24,049,529 hours watched on her Twitch channel in 2025, the most of any female streamer on Twitch and fourth overall on its combined cross-platform list, behind three YouTube VTubers. She was the first female Twitch streamer to pass 10 million hours watched in a single year, and she led the site’s female Twitch rankings in September and November 2025.

December 2025 added the Forbes 30 Under 30 placement. No newer reporting has updated her OTK status since August 2025: co-owner, no content creation contract, with a Red Bull deal and a Streamer Award.
